Work With LACI

If you are a non-profit, social enterprise,  or small business in the Los Angeles area we invite you to learn more about our services and apply for a 10-week LACI project.

Our application for the Fall 2017 semester is now open! If you have any questions or want to learn more about our process, email Lauren Phillips, LACI VP of Projects, at laci.projects@usc.edu. Please submit completed applications to laci.projects@gmail.com by midnight on Tuesday, August 1st.

Our Services

Since 2004, Los Angeles Community Impact has partnered with over 150 nonprofits and small businesses. Our clients vary in size, mission, maturity, and reach. We've built on our experiences to develop a professional, results-driven project experience for clients.

Over the course of 10 weeks, your LACI team will work with you to identify your most critical challenges, conduct in-depth primary and secondary research, and generate creative yet practical solutions. Their work will culminate in a detailed, physical deliverable presented to you at our biannual LACI Showcase. The deliverable will explain your team's findings, present its recommendations, and serve as a strategic guide for your organization moving forward.

Your LACI team will consist of 4-5 committed and capable student consultants. LACI selects its members through a competitive schoolwide application process. We provide formal training and feedback to our members and have access to a wide range of project resources. Most importantly, we share a drive and determination to truly make a difference in the LA community.

LACI is a five-time recipient of USC Student Organization of the Year and a five-time recipient of Most Outstanding Organization at the USC Marshall School of Business.

Project Timeline

What We Expect

A Collaborative Approach

To effectively identify and address the challenges that our clients face, we expect clients to engage actively with their team. Clients should be open to changes in the project scope as the team's research develops. Our process entails at least two in-person meetings and regular email communication.  For our teams to be most effective, clients must be willing to share information that is relevant to their team's decision-making process.  We treat issues of confidentiality seriously and always operate with the best interest of our clients in mind.

Commitment To social impact

LACI is a unique consulting organization at USC in that we focus on projects that we believe will positively impact the Los Angeles community. We expect clients to have a focused social mission and that our projects will tangibly help them achieve that mission.

Focused Vision

We expect clients to have a clear idea of their project and the impact they hope it will have on their organization. LACI teams work with their clients to flush out a full scope, but projects with a clear direction are usually more successful.  We take projects with a strategic focus, rather than implementation-based projects that a traditional intern would undertake.
